What is a forest school?
A forest school is a homeschool enrichment program with an educational approach that focuses on outdoor learning experiences in natural environments, often woodland or forest settings. It promotes holistic development, exploration, and connection with nature.

Are we able to tour Camp Magnolia?
Yes - and we’d love to have you! While we are still currently under construction, we’ll be ready for visits beginning mid-April. Stay tuned!

What safety measures are in place at forest school?
We prioritize safety and risk management. Trained staff supervise children closely, provide appropriate safety equipment, and teach children essential outdoor skills and awareness.

How can parents get involved in forest school activities?
Parents may have opportunities to volunteer during forest school sessions, participate in family nature outings or workshops, or support fundraising and advocacy efforts. We encourage parental involvement to strengthen community connections and support children's learning and development. We will keep you updated!

What should children wear to a forest school?
Children should wear weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty or wet, including sturdy shoes or boots, long pants, layers for warmth, waterproof jackets, and hats. Sunscreen and insect repellent may also be necessary.

What does a typical day look like?
A typical day is a large amount of forest play, a teacher-led breakout session, snack, lunch, tea time, read alouds, journaling, and exploring!

Does my child need to be potty-trained to attend?
Yes, with minimal incidents. We require children to be potty trained as we will have an outdoor composting toilet and students will need to be able to use on their own (teacher supervised from a safe distance).

What time is drop-off & what are the hours daily?
Camp Magnolia Forest School operates Monday - Thursday from 9am - 2:30pm. So, you may drop your child off at 9am (we will greet you and your child and assist with check in) and pick up between 2:30pm and 3pm.
